About Kelly Vance

PR and marketing strategist Kelly Vance has 20 years of experience leading integrated media programs for an array of brands, from local start-ups to Fortune 500 companies.

She’s placed hundreds of positive human interest stories over her career and has worked with major media outlets including Dateline NBC, CNN, USA Today and Wall Street Journal. Kelly also has established relationships with local news networks—from business editors to mom bloggers—in markets across the country.

Because she thinks like a journalist, Kelly has also successfully applied her skills to integrated campaigns centered around owned media and has been awarded several  accolades for brand journalism, video storytelling, digital marketing, media relations, influencer campaigns and more.

Trained by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and internationally acclaimed risk communications expert, Dr. Vincent Covello, Kelly has a long history of preparing leadership for interviews. She has worked behind-the-scenes with dozens of CEOs and public officials for promotional satellite media tours and press junkets, as well as real-time crisis response. During her tenure as Deputy Director of Communications at the Virginia Department of Health, Kelly helped lead the responses to several high-profile emergencies and events, from disease outbreaks and natural disasters to bioterrorism scares and tragedies like the mass shooting at Virginia Tech. Since joining the private sector, Kelly has continued to provide strategic communications consulting to support responses to global crises including H1N1, Zika and most recently, the COVID-19 pandemic. 

A returned Peace Corps volunteer, Kelly also taught a master class on American media and journalism at Moscow State University of International Relations and Moscow Institute of Business Administration.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications Studies from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
